I have
attached a list of my accomplishments and my work history. My business experience includes a variety of
experience that I am very proud of.
Included in my accomplishments are several facts of note:
·
I was a self employed fisherman for several years. I owned my own 40' fishing vessel and have
extensive experience fishing for lobsters, scallops, shrimp and ground fish.
·
I have a background as a marine surveyor which led me to
enter the insurance business.
·
I have developed a record as a marine insurance
specialist and have developed a large book of business in the marine area,
including:
*
Tugs and Barges
*
Marine Contractors
*
Boat Yards and Marinas
·
I have managed insurance offices that range in size from
$500,000 to over $2,000,000 in premium volume.
·
In 1986 I started an insurance branch office from
"scratch" and developed it to nearly $2,000,000 in premium volume in
approximately 40 months.
·
I have been published extensively on insurance and
insurance practice throughout the United States.
·
I have achieved significant levels of insurance
production and have been a consistent sales leader.
·
My work with the National Council on Compensation
Insurance resulted in nationwide changes in the assigned risk workers
compensation mechanism.
·
I have had an opportunity to observe and work with the
Underwriters at Lloyd's of London and in other parts of England.
·
I am the recipient of the Maine "Young Agent of the
Year" award, the "Personal Sponsorship Award from the Maine Chapter
of the Society of CPCU and the American Association of Managing General Agents
"Chairman's Award for outstanding
contribution to the field of Insurance.
·
I have developed my own consulting business dedicated to
improving the practice of Property and Casualty Insurance through education,
industry perception improvement and product improvement.
My
time in the insurance business has been marked with personal achievements which
give me much pleasure. I have worked to
raise the standard of ethics of the insurance community as well as to raise the
awareness of excellence and professionalism in insurance practice. I have made substantial contributions to the
Independent Insurance Agents Association of Maine, Inc., the Maine Chapter of
the Society of CPCU and to several successful individuals now practicing in the
field of insurance.
I
believe my most significant contribution has been to educate new people
entering insurance. I have been an
instructor for the basic licensing course for the Independent Insurance Agents
Association for the past 15 years. This
intensive, three day seminar gives me the opportunity to teach individuals the
theory and practice of the insurance business.
It also gives me the opportunity to stress ethics, professionalism and
values to the participants. The aim of
each course has been not only to teach the basics of insurance for licensing
but to instill the students with the concept of contribution to others through
the practice of insurance.
